The road to hell......

Last night I went to Di and Mark’s for his 50th birthday tea. We all made jokes at his expense. We had roast, chicken and pork, and all the vegetables, pavlova and I left before the cake. I have been tired, can’t say my words correctly!!, and didn’t wake up till 9 am, and not home from the walk and the Labradors’ swim till 10. I am going to town for lunch with Karen before she goes to Hobart.
The Premier, Lennon, has spent our money on a propaganda bus, that will go to schools and councils extolling the virtues of the proposed pulp mill. I am almost speechless. Imagine if the Wilderness Society sent a bus with information onto state school property: they would be arrested. Instead, red-neck Lennon, who is in the pocket of Gunns, is doing their bidding and dirty work and disseminating propaganda around the state. Oh, they say they present a balanced view, I am yet to hear a balanced view from Lennon. Today on the radio he asserted that conservationists are not stakeholders in any part of the pulp or forestry debates. I foresee that the Labor government will find it difficult to hold onto power at the next election. I certainly won’t be voting for the kind of people who ride roughshod over others, and let big business dictate the decisions they make.
Now it is a long way to ANZAC Day, but I like ANZAC biscuits!!! In our science experiment we stored ANZACs and hard tack to see which lasted longer. The hard tack was the winner by a mile!!!! No wonder there were no ANZAC biscuits at ANZAC Cove!!!!

1 cup rolled oats
1 cup plain flour
2/3 cup sugar
¾ cup coconut
2 tbspn golden syrup
125 g butter
1 tspn bicarb soda
2 tbspn hot waterPreheat oven to 160 F ( 140 ff) and mix oats, flour, sugar and coconut in a bowl. Melt syrup and butter, mix soda with water and add to mixture. Quickly pour onto dry ingredients and mix well. Roll tablespoons of mixture into balls and press onto tray, flattening slightly. They do spread, so space them out. Bake for about 10 minutes and cool on tray for 5 minutes before removing to a rack.
