Cracklin' Chocolate!!!!
A few rainy days and cooler nights and I need to have winter food. I am having what Karen calls ‘old people’s tea’, ie having it at 5 pm!! I am having carrots, Brussels sprouts, garlic mashed potato, lamb chops, mushrooms and onion!! Yum, considering I ate hardly anything yesterday I am making up for it now!!! I started writing this last night just before I had a bazillion calls from Karen’s mobile where I could hear people talking and noises, and then nothing: Was she kidnapped???. I rang Pauline’s husband and she was grocery shopping with Pauline – not kidnapped but groceries leaning on her phone. So I had disconnected the computer and wrote no more.
Yesterday I cut out 12 Crazy Chicken Pin Cushions!! They make a tetrahedron shape, a triangular pyramid, with a comb, beak and tail, and I made them half in lime green ( of course) and half in glittery pink, green, yellow etc Easter egg material. I stuffed 4 with stuffing and rice and they are so cute!!! I am giving them for Easter. They are quite fiddly and I will have to make some more as I haven’t even thought how many I will need…. But I am very pleased I have started in time!!! I will have to look in my chocolate books and find what I will make for Easter too!!!
Speaking of craft, I had to berate the Craft Fair people. Last year they stole or fair away to Hobart and had the gall to send me a fair friend booklet. The fair is at the other end of the state and it is also on the weekend after the Easter holidays end, hardly anyone from here will go now. But to rub salt into the wound I have free entry and the url of the fair is still Launceston. If I had free entry last year I would have gone very day to the fair, instead of only once on the Saturday. It was open Thursday to Saturday, and closed each day at about 4 pm, so none of my friends at work could go till the Saturday. They deliberately did that so they could say the fair was failing. The year before that, it was open all weekend.
Today in International Women’s Day, the everywoman in Australia is 37, no longer interested in sex, single, has one or two children and is getting fatter!! ¾ of women do little or no exercise, but as a single mother there is no time for exercise as a daily activity, they are juggling too may balls in the air. Rates of domestic violence have hardly changed, and the difference between men’s and women’s wages has blown out from $230 to over $310, due , no doubt, to the increasing casualisation of the workplace. They have made educational gains on men, however. Happy International Women’s Day ( do you hear the irony???)
